Richard de Lone Special Housing Project Benefit
Once again capping off the Bay Area music lovers' favorite weekend, the 8th Annual Richard de Lone Special Housing Project Benefit on Sunday, October 5 at Bimbo’s 365 Club will feature some of the best bluegrass, blues, Americana, country, and rockabilly musicians in a swinging post-festival after party with Jim Lauderdale, Bill Kirchen, Dan Hicks, Carlene Carter, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Caroline de Lone, and Kindred Maxwell and de Lone. The concert will benefit the Richard de Lone Special Housing Project founded by musician Austin de Lone and his wife Lesley with the goal of building a state-of-the-art residential center for children and adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome, like their son Richie. With all these great musicians giving their hearts and souls to such a worthy cause, this promises to be a party that you won't want to miss!

About The Richard de Lone Special Housing Project:
The Richard de Lone Special Housing Project is a non-profit organization with the goal of building a state-of-the-art residential community for children and adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare and complex genetic disorder with no known cause or cure. For more information, please visit www.rdshp.org.

Prader-Willi Syndrome is a rare and random genetic disorder. Like many syndromes, it has a litany of problems associated with it but the two characteristics that are there in every case are hypotonia, low muscle tone, and a disordered appetite/satiety function that results in a constant craving for food. For more information, please visit the Prader-Willi California Foundation website at www.pwcf.org.
Jim Lauderdale
Jim Lauderdale
Jim Lauderdale is a multiple Grammy and Americana Music Association Award-winning musician and one of the most respected artists working the Americana, Bluegrass and Country music communities today. Jim has always stayed true to his North Carolina roots but is influenced from the experience of his travels. He first immersed himself in the early country music scenes of both New York City and Los Angeles before breaking through in Nashville as a songwriter. He has helped pave the way of the current Americana Movement recording records and writing songs that cross genres from country, pop, roots, rock, folk and bluegrass.

Lauderdale, a master songwriter, has had his work recorded by artists such as Patty Loveless, George Jones, Shelby Lynne, Solomon Burke, The Dixie Chicks, Blake Shelton, and George Strait. Lauderdale’s music has been featured regularly on the ABC hit show Nashville, and he appeared in the successful film Pure Country. He has collaborated with legends like Ralph Stanley, Elvis Costello and Robert Hunter and is also a critically acclaimed solo artist with dozens of studio releases. Jim also co-hosts a new radio show on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country channel, The Buddy and Jim Show, broadcast from celebrated guitarist, producer and songwriter Buddy Miller’s home studio in Nashville.
Bill Kirchen
Bill Kirchen
Grammy nominated guitarist, singer and songwriter Bill Kirchen is one of the fortunate few who can step onto any stage, play those trademark licks that drove his seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten, and elicit instant recognition for a career that has spanned over 40 years and includes guitar work with Nick Lowe, Emmylou Harris, Doug Sahm, Elvis Costello and many more.

Named “A Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Player Magazine, he celebrates an American musical tradition where rock 'n' roll and country music draws upon its origins in blues and bluegrass, Western swing from Texas and California honky-tonk.

"Kirchen is a devastating culmination of the elegant and the funky, a really sensational musician with enormous depth." – Nick Lowe
Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Country-folk singer/songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore, raised in the somewhat-fabled West Texas town of Lubbock, is best known for his unusual fusion of traditional honky-tonk, Hank Williams-ish country stylings with lyrics influenced by Eastern mysticism and philosophy. Gilmore moved to Austin, Texas to re-initiate his music career, and released two independent label records in the late '80s before Elektra released his breakthrough album "Spinning Around the Sun" in 1993.

Gilmore's first film appearance was a brief cameo in 1993's 'The Thing Called Love,' directed by Peter Bogdanovich and starring then-unknown Sandra Bullock and River Phoenix in one of his final roles. In 1996, Gilmore was recruited by his producer, T-Bone Burnett, to appear in the new Coen Brothers film, 'The Big Lebowski,' on which Burnett was also working as musical director. Gilmore appears as Smokey, the 'pacifist' bowler whom John Goodman's Walter threatens to shoot for allegedly stepping 'over the line' when throwing a strike. Gilmore was also recruited by fan and friend Billy Bob Thornton to contribute to the soundtrack and appear briefly in "Monster's Ball" singing in a honky-tonk; he has also contributed original music for the soundtrack of Robert Redford's "The Horse Whisperer."

It has been said that Gilmore really is a true sweetheart that has nothing bad to say about anybody. That essential sweetness is transformed into tranquility, a cycle of yearning and acceptance, in Gilmore's music. With a precise intelligence, he uses the perfect blend of Americana to bring his songs to life.
Dan Hicks and the Hicksville Express
Dan Hicks and the Hicksville Express
Beginning as a drummer in the seminal 60’s San Francisco rock band The Charlatans, and continuing with his unique and legendary Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, Dan Hicks is widely acknowledged as one of the defining figures in American roots music. Having earned a reputation as a true original with his signature eclecticism and humor, Hicks continues to carve his way through a number of genres from proto-psychedelia to western swing and jazz, from tin pan alley to country blues—all the while cultivating his own unique sound.

Perhaps the Minneapolis Star Tribune sums it up best: “Dan Hicks is the eternal hipster, purveyor of the drollest and most swingin’ tunes the rock generation ever enjoyed.”
Carlene Carter
Carlene Carter
Carlene Carter was born into country-music royalty and has reached back to that rich material of The Carter Family for much of a new album, Carter Girl, released in August 2014, which offers fresh takes on classic songs. Carlene has revived Carter Family songs before, but never with this intensity and emotion. On its own terms, Carter Girl is as strong as anything Carter has ever recorded and includes appearances by Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Elizabeth Cook.

Looking back on her own musical history, Carlene remembers, "I started my career singing with The Carter Family at 17. Her self-titled debut was named "Tops in Pops" by TIME Magazine, while Newsweek called Carlene "a stunning newcomer". Her third album, Musical Shapes, still often cited as being ahead of its time for its blend of country and rock, was recorded with her then husband and producer Nick Lowe in 1980. She toured with The Carter Family for the next two years, encouraged by Dwight Yoakam, who told her, "Carlene, there is a place for you in country music."

More advice came from the man Carlene affectionately refers to as "Big John," her stepfather, Johnny Cash. "Big John was a huge influence on my becoming an entertainer and a strong woman, not just a chick singer-songwriter, because of his encouragement," she recalls. He told me ‘All music is good if you're being yourself’".
Butch Hancock
Butch Hancock
A world traveling troubadour with a long string of recorded songs and albums, Butch Hancock has been called "one of the finest songwriters of our time" and is acknowledged by his peers and critics alike as one of the premiere singer-songwriters Texas has ever produced. His tunes evoke mystical visions of wind-swept dry-plains and his lyrics are profoundly imaginative, often displaying for his listeners the miracles that occur in the ordinary through creative irony and metaphors.

Butch’s lyrical style has often been compared to that of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie and his songs have been covered by the likes of Emmylou Harris. Hancock is also a member of renowned country rock super-group, The Flatlanders, along with his lifelong friends, Joe Ely and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, a band they formed in 1972.
Caroline de Lone
Caroline de Lone
Caroline de Lone, daughter of musician and RDSHP co-founder Austin de Lone, is a singer and songwriter who has appeared on stage with acts as varied as Sugar Pie DeSanto, Buddy Miller, Elvis Costello, and the Christmas Jug Band. She has performed at Sweetwater Music Hall, Fenix, The Sleeping Lady, Bimbo's 365 Club, The Great American Music Hall, and at the Porretta Soul Festival in Porretta, Italy. Caroline is about to release her first cd of original songs, titled Fingerprints.
Kindred Maxwell and de Lone
Kindred Maxwell and de Lone is a newly formed acoustic trio featuring folk legend and blues singer Lisa Kindred, bottleneck blues slide master and vocalist John Maxwell, and piano player and singer Austin de Lone, who has toured and recorded with Elvis Costello, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs, Nick Lowe, and many more, as well as his own bands.
