Come by the display ... read more]]> The peppermill given to Liberace by Bimbo’s in 1955 is back! Come by the display at the Bimbo’s coat check to see it. Liberace was at the height of his fame when he visited Bimbo’s 365 Club in 1955. His brother, George, was performing at the club and Liberace had come to see the show. Mr. Bimbo had planned in advance. He had a gigantic peppermill specially made for Liberace and engraved with his name. The Bimbo’s 365 Club chef had also prepared a special chocolate cake shaped like a piano. The peppermill that was given to Liberace has found its way back to Bimbo’s and can now be seen amongst other archival items in the display at coat our check. You can also see video footage of the club through the years.

FOREVERLAND is a 14-piece Tribute to one of the most well-known and beloved entertainers in the world: Mr. Michael Jackson. With four lead vocalists, four horns, and a six-piece rhythm section, the band brings songs like “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” “Beat It,” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” to life, in a way that no other group has done before. SLIM JENKINS is a swinging, shouting, jumping  act out of San Francisco performing dark swing, voodoo blues and the dirtiest R&B around. THE COTTONTAILS are well-versed in American musical styles from the 1920s to the 1980s, they will belt out some old gin-house blues, riff on a Charlie Parker tune, and rock out on a Smokey Robinson song, all in a single set. Thee will also be special appearances by THE GIRL IN THE FISHBOWL! Admission includes a complimentary glass of champagne, hats, party favors and a traditional balloon drop.

In her native England, singer-songwriter Laura Marling, who just turned 21 in February, has often been described as an old soul, wise beyond her years. Marling, who started out — briefly but auspiciously — with a stint in the group Noah and the Whale, was a mere 16 when she independently released her first singles and almost immediately gained serious stature as a key figure on Britain’s burgeoning young folk scene, alongside such artists and friends as singer-actor Johnny Flynn and Mumford & Sons. The two startlingly self-assured albums that followed — Alas I Cannot Swim (2008) and I Speak Because I Can (2010) — brought the self-effacing and relatively shy Marling an extraordinary level of acclaim in her homeland, with each of them in turn being nominated for the U.K.’s prestigious Mercury Prize. She subsequently won a 2011 Brit Award, England’s equivalent to the Grammy, as Best British Female and an NME Award as Best Solo Artist.

Marling’s third album, A Creature I Don’t Know will be released on Sept 13th.  It was recorded with producer Ethan Johns and features impeccably crafted songs which only further punctuate her extraordinary talent both as a songwriter and performer. On A Creature I Don’t Know, Marling is forthright about her emotions, frank about her desires, and she’s not above having a bit of fun before the going gets too rocky.

Tim Robbins is no stranger to music. He has been long immersed in the music world. Having been brought up in a folk singing and playing family, Robbins began playing music as a teen. Now his labour of love has been realized on stage and in an impressive collection of rousing, ragtag gypsy Americana and story telling songs. Tim Robbins & the Rogues Gallery Band just completed a 22 date European tour and released their self-titled, Hal Willner-produced debut album.
